Co-founder, page Turners initiative

Bold Question: What if all children from marginalized communities in Kenya loved leisure reading?

Path to Metis: While growing up in Dandora in the heart of Eastlands Nairobi, Dommy sought escape from the often harsh realities around her through books. However, there were no libraries in her neighborhood.

Inspired by the adventures she experienced through these books, Dommy spearheaded a book drive in one of the schools she was volunteering in as a teacher assistant.

But she felt she needed to do more.

When she joined Maseno University, she and fellow book enthusiasts co-founded Page Turners, an initiative seeking to set up accessible community libraries for children in underserved communities in Kenya.

Apart from making books accessible, Page Turners designs mentorship programs for the children they are serving. Dommy hopes to change the lives of children, who just like her, have a love for reading.

Dommy is actively involved in Student Leadership at her university where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with Information Technology – Finance Major. She is the Deputy Secretary-General of Maseno University Association of Business Students (MUABS), 2020 – 2021 President of both Rotaract Club of Maseno University and Akili Dada Emerging Leaders Club.
